car turns over funny.
So i went to buy this 91 std. The guy said it died on him while driving it. He thought it seized.
I pulled all the plugs and they were corroded white. I cleaned them up with a wire brush. Cranked the motor over by hand and it was easy. Put the plugs back in and it cranked harder. So its not seized and its got SOME compression.
Next thing: Battery is one big pile of corrosion and acid. I cleaned that all up. Went to start the car and it seemed like the battery was dead. So i throw in my battery.
Car is now turning over, but it sounds like i'm trying to start it with no plugs in it. Turns over real easy and effortless, but like it has no compression.
Where else should i look to?

Hmm....could one of the valves not be working right? Top of my head idea is to run a quick compression test to see if the cylinders are even holding a marginal amount of pressure.
Doesn't look like it has ANy compression. Sounds like its got a broken timing belt.
My next Question:
Can i swap in my crx dx motor into the STD hassle free? Using crx axles and putting the std 4spd tranny onto the crx motor using crx clutch??

Yes you can swap over everything, hell even the CRX transmission if you want as long as you retain the stock axles from the STD. The only difference with the axles lies within the hub side, not the transmission side.

Actually, I have a Sexually Transmitted Disease with my 88CRX Si engine and tranny in it with the one STD and one Si axle in it. They are the same
really?????
That whats the talk of having to swap out std hubs all the time? I know thats for b series swap...but that means its differnt than dx/si hubs?

Thats funny cause my daily driver has one of each in it. I just looked it up on line at Majestic Honda and they have a different part number for every EF model SI, STD, HF DX whatever they list a different part and different price!
23 Spline versus 26 Spline. I guess my STD had a swap done while no one was looking

Well the CRX SI I had owned for many years and was a bone stock Si wheels and engine and everything was original till my crackhead stepsister bought it (well it was bought for her) and wrecked it, so I found a 90 STD 1.5l 4 speed with no accesories at all and a sick engine and swapped the complete engine, tranny, wheels and wire harnesses out. I even swapped the tilt steering and intermittent wipers out! Did Honda make a stripped down model with a 4 speed 13" steelies no trunk light or rear speakers plastic seats, no console around the shifter and no hatch cover that wasn't an STD?
si and std axles are differnet...
anyways, does the motor have fuel, spark?
if so i would go to autozone, rent a compression tester and test for compression is the cylinders and go from there.
also when you want to swap in the crx motor, get ready for dpfi-mpfi

go to molts and pick up some crx hubs
is the timing off? ... im sure you could tell if the belt was broke.
and it doesnt hurt to do a compression test..

yeah i did the compression test, there was nothing
When i look in the oil filler cap at the valve/rocker and have somebody crank it over, NOTHING MOVes.
Basiclaly i'm trying to get this car on the road for as cheap and with the least amount of hours possible. I think picking up some used axles with be the easiest thing to do.
