Default How durable is an R tranny

I would like some input as to how durable my 97 ITR tranny is. I have a 99 civic si and a while back I swaped out my b16 for a ITR motor and tranny after I destroyed my b16 tranny while using an ACT stage 2 clutch. I was pleased with how it preformed but it trashed my tranny. I would like to get a clutch for my ITR but i dont want to do the same to this transmisson.

the tranny themselves are great. The only probs i had was synchros. They just couldnt handle the hi hp shifts for me

Do high HP shifts really have anything to do with the syncros? I thought that is more pressure plate and friction disk related. Wouldn'the syncros suffer more from poor clutch engagement?

In any case the trannys are fine - you just can't abuse them and expect them to have long lives.

well the fact that I have been running hi hp and the tranny cant keep up with as quick as i shift is the main prob. Its been a prob for me. I dont want to hear user error, becuase i dont speedshift. i fully engage and dissengage every shift. Just had nothing but probs. i think i sold it on the 5th gearbox.

heh - if you're running the kind of WHP as outlined in your sig on a stock Honda tranny, then no wonder why you've had some problems
