Default WHat is the Proper way to connect a ground?

I was wondering what the best way of hooking up ground wires is, does it help if it's connecting to bare metal opposed to painted metal, also what if your not using one of those wire connectors instead you just wrap the wire around a bolt and screw it down, will this affect grounding performance?

Get a meter and check continuity from a painted surface to bare metal. You won't have continuity. The paint acts as an insulator resulting in an open circuit and no current flow.
Not using a connector is half *** imo and will not work as good.

So then it's good to have it connected to bare metal?

Don't just wrap the wire around the screw.

Properly insert the wire into proper terminal and screw the terminal down.

Yes, bare metal is best.
