Help with VAFC (I already searched)
I need help with my VAFC on my '94 GSR. I have double checked the wiring and all is correct. I have connected the VTM. Whenever I get into VTEC, I get a check engine light.
I had to adjust the vtec point to 4400 L->H and 4100 H->L.
What could be wrong? Any suggestions on what I could double check?

I can't find the blue connector that you are supposed to short to pull the codes. Does anyone know exactly where on the passenger side it is? I found the green connector that you use to adjust the timing, but not the blu one.

I was a little confused because the green rubber thing has two places in it, but I only have the blue service connector that plugs into it. I guess the green thing is a dust boot of some sort...
What else would/ should plug into that green dust boot? (I guess in another application/ model/ trim level...)

-who has only seen one plug in the rubber green thingie.
did you tap into the vtm wire, or did you cut the vtm wire and only connect the vafc vtm wire to the ecu? that is the correct way. If you just only tapped into the vtm line and didn't cut it, this will throw your code immediately in vtec. Make sure all your connections are soldered too.
I cut it and connected the ECU side to the VAFC. Last night, I disconnected the VTM wire from the VAFC and reconnected it like stock. This fixed my problem and now I no longer get a CEL.
So now I am no longer using the the VTM wire. IS it absolutely necessary that it get hooked up. I have a '94 GSR with a P72 ECU .

Actually, I still have vtec. I can hear (and feel) when VTEC engages, and I can see on the VAFC when the VTi and VTo come on. I think that I will reconnect the VTM wire to the VAFC to see if I still get the code.
According to the wiring instructions, I need to hook up the VTM wire.

no vtm wire = no vtec
That is not true...
If you disregard the VTM wire and keep the x-over within 100-200rpms of the stock setting, no CEL will be thrown.
when the VTM CEL is thrown, limp mode is ON.
