Did yo use the plug and play harness? If so did you solder the wires? Im betting the CEL is for P1259 VTEC malfunction, your hitting the soft rev limiter. Check the connections.

also check on your vafc settings... the settings need to be correct in order for it to operate properly...

Had mine on for months without any problems whatsoever. Make sure you double and triple check your wiring connections including the pins that you used on the ECU.

Since the V-AFCs are for Hondas only, the initial settings will be basically preset for all Hondas, ie. 6in 6out, throttle up, and 4 cyl. So unless you bought one used that was messed with or had someone else play with the initial setup, you should be okay on the initial settings. BUT, you should double check it in the etc. menu anyways to be sure that everything looks honky dory.

Also keep in mind that you DONT need to use the Blue VTM wire on the S2000s. On most all other Hondas without that wire you will get the same reaction from the cars, but with the S, you won't have to use that wire and will be able to use the controller just fine. So you might want to double check to make sure that wire isn't hooked into the harness.

Good luck. Hope you will be able to start tunin' it soon.

not completely true... he's got a vafc II.. not the first vafc..... the vafc II, has 3 different settings for vtec, it also has a feature for I-vtec.... the settings on the vafc II will be a little different from the vafc I.... it's more precise...

^^ What Saruchan said! double check it then double check it!

I had a very similar problem with my GSR, turns out it was nothing more than bad wiring. And luckly it was an easy fix.
