Fuel System Help..
My brother has a d15 block on a d16 head which he sent out to bullfrog for the head package, all the main mods i/h/e now his motor bogs when it hits 2,000 to 4,000 rpm's really bad, i just changed the fuel filter, he has a fpr and the guage is reading 40psi and when at wot 45psi, now could it be the fuel pump not putting out enough fuel during those rpm's, or the fpr, maybe its shot, it is like 3-4 years old, also he is running a p06 no vtec ecu wit upgraded fuel maps, this setup ran find couple weeks ago..thanks for your help..
fuel pressures look fine to me. if there was a fault in the fuel system somewhere you would see a loss of pressure in the rpm range you indicated. I dont think fuel is your issue. How are the plugs, wires, and distributor? Also what exaclt was included in the "head package"
might need to tune it
what block and head is he running??? a b7 block?? and what d16 head(i am assuming a nonvtec head since the nonvtec ecu) a6,y7 ?????
he have an adjustable cam gear??? is the head p&p, by who??? what are the specs of the cam??? and what chip is in it???? have you figured out the compression ratio??

Ok sorry i didn't post this up before but its a z6 head on a d15 block he sent the head out to bullfrog for the full package i think that is the cams valves valve spring p&p, he has adjustable cam gear also, now the reason he is running the p06 is the p28 make this setup run really bad.. the dist just got a new coil could the ignitor(sp) i just replaced the plugs wires and fuel filter...if i think of anything else i will post it up. Thanks for the replies.

It is throwing a tps senor, the only reason y i didn't think it was this, is because he has been running this setup wit the cel on the whole time and it ran fine for over let say a year...

He has a complete gude stage 3 head, cam, valve springs, valves and a ported intake manifold. Not sure of the ECU, it's a non vtec ECU, but that's another story.
This setup has been going strong for 10K miles, the only thing that has been changed recently is the oil. I know it sounds funny, but the oil was changed with 5w30 and all of the sudden the car hesitates in between 2 and 4K RPM. ?? Only in that RPM range though...
The plugs, fuel filter, wires, coil are all brand new. Any more ideas??

the oil is not going to cause the problem. so he has been running a cel for over a year???? do you realize that running a sell causes the ecu to go into a preset map known as "safe mode or limp mode". maybe the O2 sensor has finally gone bad from the excess emissions. the first place to start would be to USE THE RIGHT ECU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would cause the ECU to go into open loop mode ignoring the o2 sensors, which may be true.
I have been telling him this since he got the motor put in......

My bro can over last night and we did some testing on these ecu's we have...
check the p06 and its throwing 41 and 7, o2 senor and tps...
now, threw in the stock p28 and only threw a code 7, tps and the car ran like ****, kept poping and backfiring, we are going to order a new tps and i have a o2 for him, but my question is why would the p28 run so bad on his car when it is the stock ecu, i opened up the p28 to see if it was chipped and nothing totally fine no burns either.
