Default How to recognize the bad tranny?

Is there a way to recognize the bad tranny when it is off the car...

I'm buying EX tranny and I wonder if there is a way to check if the syncros and everything else is OK without opening up the tranny and before installation...

I don't want to install the tranny and then find out that i.e. 2nd gear syncro is gone...

What should I keep an eye on?

Nothing you can do unless you want to measure all of the clearances in the trans. Get a helms manual and get to work!

The one thing I would do is open up the case and spin all the bearings and make sure none of them click when you spin them.
