Default NUMEROUS PROBLEMS HELP ME PLEASE

I just purchased a 1998 gsr integra with 113,000 miles on it. The are several problems and concerns about the car. The IAC was checked but it still idles up and down. The engine light comes on after the IAC has been adjusted (it usually comes on when i come to a complete stop). The gas mileage is poor, but in the car manual it said it would be poor if the engine check light was on (but mine mileage is ridiculous). I "just" took it up to the dealership and got a tune up that cost 900!! But the problems still exists. The engine is now begining to smoke a little . When i slow down I have to apply the clutch or the car will buck violently . What do i need to do?

PLEASE GIVE ME ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS
Thanks

Okay....important thing here is you said your check engine light is on (CEL). There is a sticky at the top of this forum that shows you how to check for what code it is.

Do that and let us know what it is.

That will most likely tell you what's wrong.

thanks alot (b18ontop) but i know what the problem is. I got it tested today and the week before. Each time it read IAC malfunction. I got that adjusted from the dealership, the check engine light came right back on, and the car began to rev up and down again. It revs up to about 2,000 rpms and sits there. It dosent even drop below 1,500 while runinning (or reving). Do you have any suggestions on what else could be done?

Thanks for your time

Just a suggestion: Since you paid the dealership $900 to fix a problem that they didnt fix. Take it back and tell them.

no doubt, i have had the same problem, i still have the problem but no engine check light comes on, i just have a weird idle and i have to put the idle high in order for it to stay alive, because it revs high and when it stops reving it goes all the way down and dies, kind of annoying when u change it into neutral and it dies when switching gears -_- . If you paid that much for it.. you shuold really be taking it back especially since you could of bought new parts to fix it with that much $$!
