Default New shifter, rattle on exhaust, need help.

I have a 91 crx si with a b16a in it. I bought a skunk2 short shifter (The one for an integra with the bend in it, so as to not hit the console in 1st, 3rd, 5th.) and installed it correctly. i went to drive it, and the bottom of the shift linkage that connects to the bottom of the shifter is rattling against the resonator on my Invidia catback exhaust system. To me, having put it in, it seems like the exhaust would have to hang lowerer by about a half inch. Not wanting to beat a groove in my exhaust system from frustration of the noise when I accelerate, I went back and took everything apart, about very maticulously and put it all back together. It was a little better the 2nd time, but still it vibrates against it and rattles! F%*k A$S Excuse me...

What options do I have?

1) Have the exhaust cut and the resonator moved back a couplue inches.

2) Longer rubber hanger. (which imo wont help seeing as how tight the exhaust fits together, it would stay put without them!)

3) No resonator. Will it sound like ****? It sounds very nice now, except for...

Problem number two, I have developed an exhaust leak from taking out the middle section of the exhaust, possibley at the three bolt junction next to the cat. It only had 2 bolts on it, but it wasnt leaking before, or when i put it back on the first time. Damn,....comments, opinions, screams of outrage, help.

That's too much work for a short shifter. Either move the resonator or use the stock shifter.
No resonator=bumble bee sound

Try an new exhaust gasket and replace the missing bolt.

get some longer hangers, they will make the exhaust set down farther a little bit.

Thats what i did when i had this problem

As I understand it, the Skunk2 hangs lower than most other shifters due to the fact that they wanted to have the shortest throw (it's simple math that can't be avoided).

I installed one on my 89 Hatchback and found that it caused the counter weight on the linkage to hit. I cut off the counter weight and relocated it up higher on the linkage (welding it in place).

I still had it hit and had to take out the pipe and "dimple" it to get the final clearance I needed.

My recommendation (if you don't have a friend with a welder) would be to take it to a muffler shop and see what recommendations they have.

The other possible solution would be to get a different shifter that doesn't stick down as far.
