Default First swap and need help!!

Just finished my first swap. 94 jdm gsr in 92 cx. Started up and threw and code 7 but idled just fine. Btw I replaced the Tps before installing the motor because it got damaged. At first it drove fine for about 15 minutes and then it started misfiring and violently jerking. The rpms would drop to 0 and then back to normal. I pulled over and the car died and at first I had a hard time restarting it. Well now it will start but idles at 1500 rpm and jumps around. I made sure all of the ground wires were clean and well connected and that didn't do any good. I'm not sure why it keeps throwing a code 7 but I need some help. I tried posting this in the swap forum but got only 2 responses. Please help, I wanna drive my car!!!

could be the throttle body is causing the trouble, the gsr engine that i had idled randomly because of throttle body trouble.

did you have to replace the throttle body? and would that throw a code 7?

Check the voltage reading from the TPS. Both at rest and at wide open throttle. Check to see if they are within spec.

Do a search for how to calibrate a tps sensor, it may not help, but it might . My brothers gsr has this same issue and i know exactly the jerkiness\rpm drop you mean.

Make sure that the NEW sensor is not bad, and check the voltage like the previous post mentioned.

if u find the tps is off u can adjust it

but if u back probe the middle wire on the tps with the ignition key on it needs to be under .45 votls

ok well my tps was off. I used a multimeter and no more check engine light but the car still runs like crap! the tach jumps around and then goes to 0 and the car dies. Do you think this could be something with the distributor? maybe the ignitor? please any advice would be helpful, thanks

So the engine now surges and then stalls out??? Have you checked the basics like timing and stuff like that?? What did you do proir to the install of the new motor??

check all the basic problems first, timing and fuel ( make sure the timing order is correct, timing belt didnt jump...fuel is getting to the motor with no problems), also what spark plugs are you running? make sure they are gapped properly, check your idle set screw (we had a car that jumped all over the place while tuning his aem and couldnt stablize it we then noticed the set screw was completly out), pull your IAC and see if it stablizes, also check for vacume leaks.

well guys I think I might have figured it out!! There was a loose ground right near the thermostat, is that the ecu ground? anyways I tightened it and messed with the timing a little and so far it seems to be running fine. I haven't got to really drive it far yet but I will after work and then I will let you know, thanks again for all of the help!!!

Good to hear you got it started and running well. Those grounds can be a apin in the *** when overlooked.
