Default restoring goods...cusco bar... how to??? oxidation, rust, acid rain pwns me

i just acquired a cusco bar for my 5gen accord, im real happy with the price i got it for. but due to the fact that this thing is used and is probably few years old it has some oxidation, slight minor scuffs, acid rain from japan etc. i want to restore it. i've seen people with a tarnished ss header come back to life. I've also seen infomercials where they would soak or drown the product into a bucket full of solvent and pull it out in 15 minutes looking like new. i want to know what the best way to attack this with the best result.

getting 2000 grit sand paper, mothers polish and some time and elbow grease

vs

dipping the damn thing into some solvent, i forgot the name of it someone chime in please.(restore 4???)

any tips, ideas, input woudl be greatly appreciated

here are pictures
give it a few seconds to load

You should just sand it all down smooth, and repaint it. You might make the finish look lighter if you just sand it.

The polished part get some 800,1000,1200,1600,1800,2000 grit you may not have to do all those steps. Then mothers metal polish.

For the blue part im sure duplicolor has something close. Use Paint stripper then 400grit. Followed by Primer, Paint (Base), Clear.

It's a project but will be nice when your done.

Would the cost of re-anodizing be in your budget?

I would do it.
