Help, Low Oil Level, WTF??
I am overdue for an oil change by about 1k miles, and the oil light started flashing.
I checked the oil, it would not even mark the dipstick...so I added 3 quarts to bring it up to level.
I have never had a problem burning oil and I change the oil every 3k miles...
Question: Should I drive the car tonight or leave it home and change the oil tomorrow, which I planned on doing anyways?
By the way, I put in 3 quarts of Mobil1 5 -30w
thanks

You can drive it no problem. You are safer now than you were before. If something breaks it will break anyway because you neglected to check the oil. You should check your oil more often. I usually check it at least twice a month; more often when I do track days and auto-x's.
I would leave it be until I can bring it into a shop to get it checked out. How many miles do you have on your car? If it is less than 100k, you should not be burning that much oil. Unless you totally suck at driving.

How often do you check the level? A good idea is to check it every time you fuel up.

Have you been driving the car differently?
How much has the car consumed in the past?
How many miles on it?
Do you notice any oil spots on the ground where you usually park it?
Do you notice any leaks or spray in the enginebay?

Answer: I would. And you planned to do it anyways, why tempt fate.

Ding, ding, ding!!! We have another winner.
Many peoples B18C5's consume different amounts of oil and some consume Mobil-1 more than others. It's always best to keep a close eye on the C5's oil level and consumption.
Best of luck
BTW there are loads of posts on this both with consumption and oil selection as the topic.

Daymmm 3 Qts low... I get 2 sometimes but thats very rare...
I burn oil like it was my fulltime job, But I allways check the amount before I start the car if its been stting over night. and about every 3-5 hours depending on how I'm driving.

changing your oil isn't very hard and you should make sure to do it frequently. anyway, just make sure to check your oil more often especially after spirited driving. also, you should not have just dumped in a whole 3 qts because there was no mark on the dipstick. check your oil level before driving.
