Default Question on bad turbo. Bearing's or seals.......

How can you tell if the bearings are bad in a turbo, besides spinning it to see (and checking for shaft play. )

Does a turbo with bad bearings leak oil/burn oil out of the exhaust as well?

Just a simple question. Tried searching and still not sure.

THANKS!

Alright bad seals leak oil in the exhaust housing and blows blue smoke through exhaust consistently. Bad bearings will leak oil on startup and go away. You'll also find oil in the compressor housing as well if the bearings are bad.

Is this correct?
