Default Need Axle Help ..Please..

Well, after i got my springs put on, i noticed this clicking noise from the passenger side. Then like 20 mins later, i tried pulling out of 1st gear and heard this sick scraping noise and my car won't move. I was like WTF..I pull to the side of the road and jack up the car. I feel the boot behind the rotor and i can feel the "*****" moving around inside the boot. I then pull the boot off and everything comes out, the *****, this ring w/ little teeth on it (which some are broken off)..

Now my question is, will changing the axle solve my problems? or is there more things i need to look for? Thanks..

sounds like the axle was pulled out to far. ie taking off the bolt from the upper arm to step on the rotor to get the strut out. id replace the axle cause its cheap [like 55$ from autozone lifetime warranty]

You don't have to worry about stripping it. You just have to worry about breaking cheap tools.

I found that out the hard way.

The damn thing won't even move!..i stepped, jumped, everything ...can anybody give me any tips on how to do this? ..i tried searchin and people said the breaker bar took it right off. I guess i'm gonna have to go to a shop or something.

well i don't know about the dc/da axle switch. i would think that they would be the same but i could be wrong. you'll need air tools to take the axle nut off. had the same problem with mine. take it to a shop (or dealership) if you don't know anybody who has air tools and have them take it off then lightly put it back on. the dealership should do it for free.

haha, getting axles off suck I busted a craftsman breakerbar and a nut trying to get mine off. I ended up having to take them to a shop with a crazy, bolt eating impact wrench. Just for ***** though did you pry out the grove in the nut that locks them in place. I don't know if you car has them, but mine did

I'll tell it to you straight up. Some of those nuts are on there so tight that the only solution is air tools (So I thought).

I was in your position. I had a fairly cheap breaker bar and bent it to **** so I dremeled the hell out of the bolt. I had to cut it in two places then chiseled the bolt away.

I didn't know that there are some HUGE AND THICK bars though. Get a bigger and stronger breaker bar and use a jacks handle for leverage. Make sure that the car is not jacked and have someone hold the brakes. Start the car so the brakes will hold stronger then turn it off if you wish. My cousin couldn't hold the brakes hard enough and the car would slowly pull forward and drag the rear tires.

Forgive me for any grammar errors, I am on a pocket pc.

Go to home depot and buy two things:

1) A small propane torch.
2) A nice strong pipe.

Heat the axle nut in a circular motion until it starts to get red. Then bang it a few times with a hammer (on the axle splines). Then take your 32mm on a breaker bar, put the pipe on the end of the breaker bar and give it a go. Heat will usually do the trick.
