Default Base timing recommendations

what would u guys recommend on an LSVtec with 11.7:1 comp ratio? its fine at idle...but starts to knock really bad at 2500 on up.....not a rod knock sound by any means....not 100% sure on base timing now..will know tomorrow, and its running a skunk2 p28 ecu, if that helps, car has older 93 octane in it...im gonna add some cheater in a bottle(octane booster) and run that gas out asap...the motor has very low miles on it as well

are the ignition tables in that ecu too steep to use with my car on pump gas?

TIA

Id run a stock ecu if possible. Id suspect the ignition tables are too steep like you said...
Try setting your base timing to 14 degrees and see if the pinging goes away.If not retard it some more...

Im currently running a stock P28 on a 2.0L 12.5:1 engine and had to retard the distributor almost all the way so it wouldnt detonate at WOT in 4th or 5th gear...
Good luck and RETARD that ignition before you lose your ringlands
