smoke coming out of exhaust
i prob asked this question before but i got no real response. when i turn on the car, smoke comes out of the exhaust 2 mins into the intial startup. when the car is warm and driven the smoke stops. when i leave at idle it stops too. there is no more smoke the whole day until i start it up again the next day and the cycle repeats itself. does this mean oil is burning. there are no leaks around any gaskets. car has 21k miles. i do burn 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil every 3k miles. anti freeze reservoir seems to be at the same level. just curious about this. can it be water condensation? seems like its white smoke on the intial startup after that no smoke even when i hit vtec. car has i/h/e and a t1r test pipe..
Yep, this sounds like condensation. If you don't notice smoke on heavy throttle or immediately after you get off the throttle, your rings and seals are probably ok.

yep, burning 1/4 to 1/2 quart every oil change is typical and i wouldn't worry about the startup smoke.

If it IS oil, it could be intake valve stem seals. Search it up.
An indication of worn valve stem oil seals or valve guides is exhaust oil smoke at periods of idling and at start-up. You may also notice smoke after decelerating down a long hill and when you put the foot down it blows a big cloud. The reason is that manifold and intake port vacuum is high at idle and deceleration.

Probably condensation .. When the smoke comes out, put your hand in the exhaust wake and see if water forms up in your hand .. Probably NOT the most scientific way of testing but it will let you know if its condensation or oil..
