Default a/c comes on with defroster.why?

I have a 99 hatch and when I turn on my front defroster with the fan on the a/c automatically comes on. Is this only my car, if not do you have a reason why honda did this? thanx. I am just confused

It happens to them all. Don't worry. It helps with the defrosting.

It's supposed to. It helps defog the car. If you've ever run a car with no A/C and a foggy window, you'll be glad you have it.

domestic cars have always done this too, they just never had a light on the dash telling the driver the A/C was on. It's normal and defrosts a window much faster and will work on a hot or cold setting.

the a/c dries the air, and dryer air helps to defog the windshield faster. the fastest way to defrost your windshield: defrost setting + a/c + heat
