D series Turbo
I have plans on putting some boost on my D16Y8 via an Apex'i turbo kit
I was wondering if anyone has done this and what is a safe amount of boost to push on pretty much stock internals and what kind of gains i can expect?
Thanks

doesnt the WG come set around 6psi?? you can run upwards of 12 psi on stock internals but you will want to have some good management. i would say with hondata, a front mount, and your apex kit on your Y8 you can hit upwards of 170whp on 10 psi with good tuning. maybe more but not much on that turbo. you might want to invest in some head studs too. i think the above setup would be pretty reliable............
for a lil pointer for you i have a a 99 ex sohc turbo wit the edelbrock kit in it kit is great and ez to install. but i threw a bearing like 3 weeks ago. so my advice to u is get a highvolume oil pump. i just finish doing a minor build on a motor i bought and i threw in a high volume oil pump .good luck to u though
with good tuning,
maybe 10psi, if you want to stay safe.
I wouldnt go up to 12psi personally.
dseries blocks can handle just about up to 200whp, maybe alittle less,
if they're tuned well.
Sure they can handle more, just not for long
to be on the safe side, I would peronsally stick to 180whp
