Will an input shaft bearing make a clanking noise?
I believe my input shaft bearing is almost gone because my car had all the symtoms before of making the whirr sound in neutral and then it would go away when i would push the clutch in. Recently i was driving and i heard a clanking noise come from the tranny, so i drove it home really slow.
What i was wondering was will the input shaft bearing start making a clanking noise after it starts to go out or is there more that is wrong with the tranny. It drove home just fine, all the gears feel just like the always have. It's not the clutch because i just replaced it this weekend thinking that was the problem.
Well if anyone has had this problem before or know the answer to this then please help me out here. I need this car to drive me to vocational school everyday and i need to get this fixed as soon as possible.
edit: i forgot to mention my check engine light is on so how do i do the code check on a 94 civic dx?

Here are the symptoms when my isb went bad.
Whhrrrring sound noticeable when downshifting.
A few weeks later, ticking sound while in gear or in neutral. Sound stops ticking when clutch pedal is pressed in.
A few weeks later, ticking is much louder you can hear it with windows rolled up. I replaced the bearing at this point.
Upon inspection, the bearing was still intact. But when I spun it by hand, it was obvious it was bad.
