Default REVISED: I want a D-Series in my EG Hatch. But which one?

Sorry for the repost, but my other one had so many people asking me questions that my dumb *** should have put in the first post, as well as a lot of arguing about whether this guy's Del Sol would beat and Si Hatchback, while the hatchback mentioned was really a CX, and just **** like that. You get the picture . So here is what I want

I want to put a D-Series, SOHC VTEC motor into my EG Hatch. I want to be a manual. I want LSD. I want to keep it Naturally Aspirated for a while now to see if I can get what I want out of it from ALL MOTOR power. I have heard people recommend the following:

* D16Y8
* D16Z6
* D16Z6 Block w/ D16Y8 Head
* D16A6 Block w/ D16Z6 Head
* JDM D15B
* JDM SOHC VTEC ZC (didn't even know they made VTEC ZCs)

1.) What is the differences in the -Y8 and -Z6 heads?
2.) What should I steal the 5-Speed tranny from? Heard the DX and CX weren't nothing compared to a EX or Si. True?
3.) I also heard that if I decide to go with a JDM, and screw something up, I am pretty much SOL, because it's hard to get parts for 'em and no on knows how to work on them. True?
4.) What motors came in a 92-95 Si? Did the same on come in an EX? I would eventually like to end up with a Si Conversion.
5.) What exactly is a Mini-Me Swap? Heard about it, but seen about 3-4 different block/head combinations listed as a "Mini-Me".
6.) How high does a D-Series safely rev to? How does it compare to a B-Series? I want to be able to Rev it really high for the sound and excitement of 7500-8200rpm.
7.) What rpm does the VTEC kick in on a D16Y8, D16Z6, D15B, and a ZC?
8.) What are the weight differences in a CX, VX, DX, EX, and Si?

Sorry about the repost, but people on the other one spend too much time explaining their overdrives and how a GS-Rs are slower than CX Swaps 'n ****. Had to repost so people can start seeing my questions.

1. z6 has larger combustion chambers comapred to the y8
2. get an ex or si tranny for shorter gearing.
3. most jdm D series are identical to their US counterparts...sohc vtec zc=d16z6 or y8
4. d16z6 same as an ex.
5. sohc vtec head on a a non vtec block.
6. depends on how well it is built
7. depends ont eh ecu you use, typically 5000+ though.
8. check edmunds.com for vehicle weights

1) Supposedly the Y8 head will flow a lot better then the Z6 head. I have no proof of that though.
2)Ex and Si tranny are the same right? They have shorter gear ratios compared to the dx/cx/vx trannys are are usually good for .1-.2 seconds.

4)92-95 Si and Ex both came with the d16z6 vtec. 96-98 ex is a d16y8
5)I'm sure you could pretty much call any head on a differnt block a mini me, but usually a non vtec block with a vtec head. That is very easy to perform on the sohc, and there is a great write up on here somewhere.
6)It probably wouldnt be a problem to get a sohc to rev that high, given you take some time to upgrade the head
7)Bah I think 5200? Someone correct me if im wrong, but you can always get a vtec controller and change that around.
8) Hatches: Vx-2094 Cx-2108 Dx-2264 Si-2390 Coupes: Dx-2231 Ex-2501 Sedans: Dx-2313 Lx-2376

Someone add some corrections if needed, I could be wrong on some stuff.

Great information! Keep it coming!

One Question: To put a Z6 in my EG, wouldn't I need to upgrade to OBDII, or is a 96-98 Civic in OBDI also?

I will have a very clean D16Z6 complete swap available in a few weeks, 119 K miles, perfect condition with no tranny grinds what so ever! Let me know if you are interested, I will be glad to get pics, videos, and or documentation on the swap and car it is coming out of.

Okay... By "EG" hatch I'm assuming it is a 92-95 hatch? If so, your car is OBD I and you could drop a d16z6 right in there (came stock in Si), the d16z6 is OBD I...

96-98 is OBD II, so if your hatch is one of those years I would drop in a d16y8 (OBD II) and not mess with the z6.

I'm asking about a y8, with the larger combustion chambers, into a 92-95 Hatch. Would I need one of the OBDII to OBDI converter harneses?

Default MY BAD!!!

Now reading my second post, I realize where I confused the **** outta a lot of probably. Sorry...

What I meant to ask was this:
If I want the 96-98 y8 head in my 92-95 Civic, would I need to a conversion harness to make it work, b/c I am almost sure that '96-Current Civics where OBDII, and I am also almost sure taht 92-95 were OBDI.... Anyone know?

Aright I think I got it right this time. Anyone ?
