Too high of compression for boost?
I got a JDM 22 type-s engine and have plans off boosting it here in the near future. The only problem is that the compression I hear is too high to boost. Plus I've also heard that in the 22 if you replace the pistons you'll have to resleave the block. Is this true? And whats the best ratio when it comes to running a good 6-8 psi every day?
I don't normally like to say this but seriously please search. Also make your way into the forced induction forum section and read away. A lot of good info in there.
About your question. 11:1 compression is pretty high for boost. However I'm sure with VERY good tuning you could be ok with 4-5 lbs of boost. ANy higher and problems will occur.
Yes resleeving is indeed a necessity when running forged pistons. Best ration is 9:1 IMO Others might disagree

yea, high compression is good for n/a, low for FI...
im pretty sure u can swap ur pistons out for usdm pistons on a stock prelude if u dont wanna resleeve ur block
matter of fact il trade u my set for urs, since i wont be buying a turbo anytime soon =P
