Default Need help choosing which amp to get.

Okay, 1st off I am new to the audio world. Besides for having some components and a nice head unit.

Anyways, My brother recently visited me and gave me his 2 10" JL Audio w3v2 D-4 subs.
They are in a Q Logic Box. It's pretty decent.

But He didn't give me an amp, so I need to know what specs for an amp I need.
I know the subs handle 300 watts rms.
So would I need a amp that can handle 300watt rms x 2 x 4 ohm? or 2 ohm.
I don't really understand the ohms and ****. haha

Please help a noob get his system bumpin!

depends on how you wire them . i would wire in paralell and run then 1ohm.
or you could do series/paralell and run a higher impedance.
I got a 1/4 ohm stable amp ill part with. this thing might beat the **** out of those subs though

i personally would either get a monoblock and run it at 1 ohm or get a 4 channel and run each channel at 2 ohms.

easiest is a 1ohm stable monoblock amp really.

Thanks for the input. I looked on the jl audio website and it says that my w3v2's normal impedence is dual 4 ohm.

what does this mean?

this means each coil is 4ohm impedance. you can either run each sub at 8ohms series or 2 ohms paralell.
