DART Block not sealing head gaskets ???
any info on which cometic head gasket to use for the dart b18 (212 Deck Height)
85mm bore
we heard that someone makes a "special" gasket for the dart 85mm block
if we try the GSR cometic hp 85mm .043 (turbo) it hangs off the edges on the exhaust side.
any one else running the b18 spec dart w/ a p72 (gsr) head??
Thanks for any help.

Cometic part #'s:
81.5mm bore: C4232
84.5mm bore: H1340SP1030
If you're boring the block out to a true 85mm, you may want to contact Cometic and ask for their recommendation.

Did you deck the block ofter bore and hone? I'm not sure on the newer ones, but on the old ones the sleeves sat a hair bit higher than the deck so I HAD to deck mine. I also just picked up another old one and it will need the same.. I run a regular .030 non hp cometic gasket 85mm.. Make sure that if the block was decked to make sure the actual rivets that hold the gasket layers together have ample room between the block and the head to sit. The small releifs that dart machines in arent very deep and i have head of people having to remove those rivets completly to gain clearance..
ok, here's where were at.
if we use a non vtec gasket stock or not it fits perfect, but no gasket material for the oil drain (left rear side of block)
if we run any vtec gasket it fits terrible!!!! hangs off the edges.......
we have 4 darts that we have built & their all the same (same gasket issues)
but yes, we did deck the block along w/honing & boring.
thats not the issue, the issue is what "motor" to pick the gasket from,
we tapped the oil return in the block to a 12x1.25mm used a pipe plug and blocked the return.
machined the head for a "lsvtec" style.
run the dart as a "lsvtec" style (run the oil feed from the block to the head)

I use vtec gaskets. 1st was a rs machine overbored gsr gasket and now I use a cometic 85mm vtec gasket. Yes it hangs over, but it doesnt affect anything..I havent had any gasket issues at all.

Im also running the Dart Block but just 84MM Bore. Right now im in the process of rebuilding the bottom end and i was using the Cometic HP which they are not selling any more. But thinking im going to go with Cometic 4188. The Head gaskey i had before hung over a tiny bit as well but never had any problems. But i guess its a 50/50 shot. Either to big 84.5MM or to small 84MM. And running High boost car not sure which way to go.
