blowing head gasket on a closed deck block
i have a 1st gen ge closed deck block and i keep on blowing head gasket left and right.. My bore size is 84.5. Is this normal or could there be something else wrong?

Some shops do a good job lapping the block (deck surface) Check the head also. They should have a polished look verses machining tool cutting marks.

Re: blowing head gasket on a closed deck block (purpleh22)
No i didn't do that yet.. i thought it blew because the bore size was to big and the closed deck had something to do with it... i was thinkin the closed deck make the block to hot so it burns the head gasket..so resurface the block and mill the head? ill try that

Check it with a straight edge first:

There's no sense milling anything if it's not warped. If you take the head to a machine shop, then they should show you how to use a straight edge to check for warpage, it's pretty easy.
