Who has bored out an engine???
Hey wasup, I picked up a spare b18b block and might be interested in overboring it and slaping in some new pistons.
Now at my shop we have a bore and hone machine. We have done many many SBC's and several other closed deck apps. Never an open deck like the Honda.
After searching many people say to just buy sleves but thats hella expensive considering I will never make that much WHP. Some say it can be done you just have to keep small like .5 or 1 MM with a torque plate.
Can anyone comment on this. give me reasons why I should not over bore the block.
Merci Beaucoup,

Merci Beaucoup,
no reasons that i have found that you shouldn't bore a honda block as long as you don't go too big
82mm is the max i have seen on stock sleeves reliably
the most common size to bore the engine to is 81.5mm

The next bore size above stock size is an 81.5mm bore. If you arent planning on high boost, then the stock sleeves at 81.5mm bore should withstand the boost that you plan on doing.

We build race engines. We do sleeving, bore, hone, etc all the time.
