Default squealing from the intake

What would make my intake squeal just at a certain throttle position? It's not even a matter of rpm (which would maybe cause rubbing and therefore squeaking). I've just got a no-name cold air intake with a no-name filter. It seems to come from the filter end, but I replaced the filter not long ago, and the sound didn't go away.

Any ideas?

maybe there is an extremely small hole in the intake making that noise. does it get louder as the rpms go up? or maybe its even your clutch

right on, gator. it's entirely a matter of throttle position. it doesn't get any louder, but it's got a *tiny bit* of a range to the pitch, if I push the pedal ever so slightly further. a buddy of mine had a short ram intake on his 91 LX sedan and claimed to have the same noise. I honestly doubted that mine was even coming from the intake like he said, until I happened to be poking around under the hood and gave it a quick rev by hand. almost positively coming from the filter end of the intake.

hey both of you what engines are you running? it might help someone chime in if they have a solution.

could it be related in any way to the vtec coming on?

do you use that vaccumm output on the intake pipe or did you seal it?

isnt it possible the noise is coming from the throttle body or manifold but your only hear it from the filter bc thats where the sound is traveling?

just some thoughts...

im completely stock, it doesnt sound like its coming from the filter, its sounds like probalby from the throttle body...it hasnt been to much of a concern since my car has so many dam rattles...

but i would like to fix it for one less noise in my car...

My car would do this too, just at a certain throttle position as well.

I had an Injen CAI on my b18c1. I replaced it with the stock box w/ integra arm, and it went away.

I also reinstalled the idle-adjust screw at the same time. For some reason, my b18c1 didnt come with one when I got it. So, that might have played a part in that whistle since there was a small open hole into my t/b.

I'm running a 90 LS (so no VTEC, unfortunately) with a no-name cold air intake. I tightened all the hose clamps that hold it together, so I shouldn't have a mechanical squeak.

Doublethink, you mean the place near the throttle body where it connects to the valve cover via a rubber hose? I do have it connected, if that's what you're talking about.

I suppose it definitely could be coming from the tb... maybe with a metal intake tube, it just seems to be coming from the filter end. What would be causing the noise in there though? My idle adjust screw was loose, and I tightened it, but it didnt' make a difference.

My car definitely has plently of rattles and noises too, but they make my car sound like a pile of junk. (I know otherwise of course! )
