Usually they all whistle. factory ones would whistle too if they didn;t have resonators and and filter covers. you hear the whistle because aftermarket intake kits aren't enclosed in a cover like factory systems are.

The air going around the throttle plate makes the noise. That's why it only happens at certain positions. If you can't hear it, you may have a dirty throttle body/ plate. But I wouldn't stress about it.

The best and safest way to clean the intake tube and throttle body is CARB cleaner..Just flood the throttle body and let it sit for like 5 minutes or else you will throw a FIREBALL str8 out..It worked for me i had hella carbon build up in mine..I do it every now and then

i think every integra whistles no matter what integra u have, sometimes i dont think its the intake i think its something completely different, cuz i had stock intake, aem short ram, and even aem cai and they all whistled, so im not sure.

i have an AEM CAI and i hear the whistle only when i'm driving with my radio off. which is just about never... haha! i didn't really pay attention that much to the whistle when my radio was out of commission. but it was somewhat loud.

i always thought that was ur throttle body whistling cuz i usually only get the whistle during certain rpm's cuz the throttle body is open a certain degree.

yea today i bought a new AEM short ram with a AEM filter...and it sounds very loud on VTEC...from inside the car i can hear my VTEC scream... but however i do not hear the WHISTLE at all... i have the same exact intake and filter as my other friends 99 GSR... but i am thinkin it has something to do with my EDELBROCK throttle body...it looks a bit different...so ill prolly end up sellin it or trading it for a stock one...does anyone know if this is whats causing my intake not to whistle....

the WHISTLE you refer to is the air getting pulled by the entry of the cone into the actual metal tubing, the air rushes into a small area and has a tendancy to make noise when stress is placed on it to get into that small area along with the drop in pressure on the outside, the fater the air moves the lower the pressure, just like when you whistle with your mouth you gotta make the hole smaller right, same concept diff application, you can see this if you make your mouth a tight small hole then breath in slow nothing right but if you giver....... whistle right, see it works the same way
