Battery dies very quickly
My battery dies very quickly. I was wondering what could cause this. It used to last a very long time, but not anymore (dies with lights or music on after 5 min). I have a optima yellow top battery. thanks for your help
Sounds like your alternator isn't helping to recharge your battery. Does it die very quickly with the car on?
I *THINK* that the yellow top is a deep cycle battery, which wouldn't have a shortened lifespan from being completely emptied of it's charge and then recharged. However, if it's not, you are hurting it's ability to hold a charge each time you completely kill the battery.

Use a volt meter to check and see if the battery is holding the charge very well then. I can run my DVD player/tv/sub and all up pretty loud for close to 30 minutes and have the car start up like nothing happend on a cheapy Autozone battery, so I don't understand what's wrong with yours.
