Yeah its alot, but anyway. I got sick and tired of that peice of **** and decided I didnt want to deal with it or the fact that I wont have a car for a long time while trying to rebuild it. So I pulled it out and swapped in a jdm h22 this weekend.
Only have a couple of issues to still work out on this one so far. We busted the radiator while pulling the motor out because I was stupid and in a hurry...so I didnt pull the altenator bracket
.
And I found a torn cv boot while under there and decided to change it and let me give all of you some advice...... DO NOT I repeat DO NOT under any circumstances buy or use a cv boot from Advance auto parts!!!!!!! EVER!!!! They suck complete ***! The boot is too big and the clips are WAY too small. So Now I have to replace the boot again because Advanced sucks ***.
All in all though the swap went well besides those 2 things there wasnt any problems. It started right up and ran fine besides the eratic idle due to the lack of enough coolant
but I have a Koyo radiator from radtios.com coming tuesday and I will update all of you on the situation
PICS TO COME if anyone cares

JDM h22...we pulled it in the shop friday morn pulled it out in 4 hours, called it a day.
Then worked for 9 hours on saturday. We transered the intake manifold from the h23 vtec because the tps and intake air temp sensor were broken so I said screw it and did it as one. And of course transfered the flywheel clutch and tranny then the engine harness and put it in and hooked it all up.
Sunday we worked for about 4 hours putting in all the fliuds and fixed the CV boot
God that sucked ***. and then started it up cleaned up and drove it to the parking lot where it sits right now waiting for a brand new radiator. Hopefully it it runs good!!!

Yeah my lude was a vtec off the line
I am gonna miss the tourqe from that motor. It was just soo nice and when I got my new motor I got some ***** and got on it a bit and it was awesome. It pulled so nice. Oh well maybe it will be fixed easily and I can swap it back in!!

I am leaving this motor alone...I just need something reliable that is decently quick
Just got my raditor in today and it looks REALLY skinny...P/N cu1572 from 1800radiators Its suposed to be a koyo radiator. I heard they are pretty good. I looked at it and it looks kinda cheasy! The whole thing is plastic on top and bottom and there is 2 extra ports on the botom that I have no clue what the hell they are suposed to go to
Did I get the right one? On the bright side of things they gave me a bag of candy
LOL Anyway I really could use some input as to if I got the real deal or not it just doesnt look right to me but hey I have always delt with oem

whoo hoo it runs finally. Word of advice...if you buy a new radiator get a new radiator cap with it, because I had to but 4 different radiator caps to find onr to fit and work.
so it runs good just in need oif a valve adjustment. VTEC works perfect but got a moderate smoke stream coming from the exhaust when in the higher rpms. I think its just because the motor sat for a while.
I am gonna buy a new diggy cam today so I will try to get sonme pics

Dude, that's awesome. Glad it is up and running again.
I miss the torque of my old H23 too. I would make an H23VTEC out of it but I just can't justify spending more money on the car. Plus, I don't have a place to work on it.
So, you took apart your stock H22 to make an H23VTEC?? Did you sell off your old H22 shortblock??

I think all the H23 VTEC's decided to get pissed off at their owners lately....haha.
Andy, I am pretty sure what happened was he had a straight H22, a cylinder cracked, so he bought the H23 bottom end and threw the H22 head on that.
Has it stopped smoking so much Chris?

Well mt old h22 overheated on me one day when I wasnt paying attention and the block cracked so I had a major water leak. I JB welded it and drove it for like 4 months while building up all the h23 vtec stuff.
I bought a built h23 bottom end that was supposed tyo be good but the dude screwed me I think I will find out when I get the h23vtec apart. Bought a head and had it reworked and wala h23 vtec.
BUt we all know that disgusting story so I bought the h22 swap. So far so good.
