Default My turbocharger

i bought a used turbocharger about 8 months ago and its been sitting in my room ever since then. very soon im going to put it on my turbo setup but i am unsure if this turbo is working. everyone that ive talked to said the wheel spins freely. Mine take a little pressure to spin the wheel. it does turn about halfway then it stops. im thinking that its b/c no oil. is there ne way i can check if its ok.

doesnt sound like a good turbo. the turbo i'm using as a bookend in my room does the same thing. there is no way that i would ever put that on my car either...

you'd be surprised how they loosen up once you spin them up with oil in them. As long as the shaft play is minimal and the shaft spins without any roughness it's probably fine. You can try filling up the feed side with oil and letting it seep down through the bearings and out the drain while you spin it.

all i do is put some oil through the oil feed and let it drain out the oil drain
i assume it will come out fast? i prob. need a bucket?

No -- it probably wont even come out if reallly slow at all... I did it with mine. It doesn't really flow w/o pressure due to the design of the bearing housing...

so pretty much the only way i can find out is if i put it on my car. i mean the wheel does spin, but it seems like since its been in my room for a long time its gotten pretty rusty.
