Default Garrett turbo woes ...

Well I am exp. somthing I have not seen before ....so I thought I would ask , have any of you ever seen a garrett GT turbo , not let the oil drain through , the is a restricer ( to keep the pressure in check ) the drain is almost vertical but there is is no oil in the drain and there is burnt smeeling oil still in the top of the turbo ....even after I pull the restricer out and all ....I am confused , I have never seen this before , there is oil is not getting through , and the turbo **** this evening , after only driving a few hundred miles ( mayby 200 or so ) since friday when the car got running...any ideas

You're the one with the RB engine in the 200sx in Traverse city, right? Could you explain a little more about the issue you're having? I'm a little confused about what you typed, but would like to help if I can.

I have a sleeved SR20VE ...the turbo was getting oil , but it there is no oil in the drain side of the turbo ....oil and pressure on the inlet side of the cartridge , none on the other so it cooked the oil in the turbo .....



The turbo was clocked corectly , and the drain had no kinks , the oil drain was dry inbside and lacked the horrible cooked oil smell

Ah. that's it. I couldn't remember your project log. what turbocharger are you using?

It was a GT35r ....I ordered a SC6262 this morning to it running again , I still want to know what happend though we have a few thoughts

did you put gasket glue on the drain gasket?

uuu no .....I have never used anything like that , even on the turbojet engines at work ...

Good and gg is a big no no on a turbo engine.



Is oil going into your housings and is the turbo smoking badly?

Right. please describe or take a photo of the entire oil return and feed setup. If either of those is not lined up correctly, where oil is not being fed back into the system properly, it could possibly be the source of the problem.
