Default Gasket in between Manifold and Turbo inlet?

My car does not have a gasket in between the manifold and the turbo inlet. Is there suppose to be one? My car is not producing the power it should be, (which I've made posts about a few times before), and I'm wondering if this could be another possibility. I see white marks in spots were the turbo and the manifold meet, could these be heat spots from leakage?

From the description it sounds like you have a few leaks. I'd recomend getting a gasket. I've always run one. I had a buddy who custom fab'd some stuff and didn't run a gasket, said he didn't need one because he'd machined his flanges so precisely. Well his spool sucked I pulled the turbo off and sure enough the thing leaked like crazy. Turns out his "machining" job was really a belt sander. Dumbass.

I have a metal gasket between my inlinepro and turbine inlet.

From road race engineering's site.

You can get it from Napa but I haven't been running on for the past 2 years and have never had a leak there.

What the hell do you think they resurface your head with at the machine shop? it was the operator not the tool.

If it feels like a stock GSR you would hear that leak for sure..(exhuast leak). I had a small leak there and it was loud. Since you didn't mention hearing an exhaust leak I would say you need to go over your IC piping again. Also you need to take a close look at your couplers for cracks. Is your boost gauge reading anything?

Oh and as long as both surfaces are flat everything should seal.

Good luck.

all charge pipes are good, i got all new turbonetics silicon fittings, and i do hear a lot of air, but its not like a ticking noise like an exhaust would make, just a lot more air sounding then usual. A few people road in it and they said the same thing....sounds like a like of air but no pull. The boost guage reds a steady 7psi. Idk this is such a mystery

If you have a Nissan dealership with a competent parts dept, I'd recommend you get the gasket that comes from an '88 300ZX Turbo. This thing is thick and does its job well. Or if you prefer, go to the Ford dealership and ask for one that came from their 80s Turbo Thunderbirds.

I do it on every setup I build. A little copper spray and a quick surface with the belt sander *gasp* and I have never had problems. I used to work at a Volvo dealership and this was even the factory recommended procedure on their turbo cars, throw out the gasket, clean it up and put it together.

If you want to get a gasket from napa just ask to see their gasket book. They have life size pictures for rednecks that don't do numbers

In response the belt sander comment. There is a difference between a metal shop belt sander setup and the kind you use to sand down a table with. My buddy was using the wood working setup and it was painfully obvious. The surface was uneven and the scratches were pretty deep.
