My R has a strange electrical problem....(
Well, I guess are should start with events that might have contributed to my hazard switch not working--which is the problem. My R was vandalized acouple months ago and the person responsible tried to rip the climate controls out of the dash. They were unsuccesful and just left it hanging out of the dash by the wires. My hazard lights switch was still working. Well, because the unit was flopping all over the outside of the dash I unplugged it and packed it away. During the time it was unplugged two things happened. Number one, I got an alarm installed. Number two, during a tune up I made a rookie mistake and dropped and 1/4 wratchet across the battery terminals and it started to spark...I grabbed the wratchet with a shop towel about 5-10 secs later, started the car and everything seemed to work fine (keep in mind that the climate controls were still out so I didn't check to see if the unit was till fully operational, they were also out when the alarm was installed). About 3 weeks ago I put the climate controls back in because I was sick of looking at the ugly hole in my dash. To my dismay, the hazard switch would not activate the blinkers. I have checked the fuse panel and everything looks OK. I checked the climate contol connecters and all seems to be OK. My question is: what could be causing my hazard switch not to work? Everything on the climate controls works except the hazard switch. The defroster, heater, A/C....everything even the lights work perfect. My signals still work too...I just can't get them to blink simutaneously with the hazard switch. Well, I am at a dead end and out of ideas. Should I blame it on the alarm install place or try to fix it myself? I really don't want to fight the alarm shop and then have some guy from the alarm shop poking around my electrical unless I have no options left. Any ideas guys?
After your car was vandalized did the hazard switch work? My hazard switch went out on my Sol and the only culprits I can think of could either be the flasher relay, but not sure of that one since your turn signals work. Also check to see that the switch was not damaged when vandalized. Just my .02. Good luck
The hazard switch DID work after my R was vandalized. Thanks for the advice man!
Yeah, there's one more thing I forgot to mention. It might be possible that the actual switch was damaged in all the unplugging and pluggin. Not sure how and it doesn't look damged, but...could this be the case?

I actually changed my flasher relay located by my fuse box(Sol) and my hazards did'nt work still so I bought a switch and they worked. I don't know if this is the case for your car just a suggestion to look at.
Yeah, those switches can be pretty expensiv though. I think its like 60 bucks. Not that bad I guess now that I think about it....
