'95 Civic Starting Problem (No Dash Lights)
There is a backstory to it, but I will just cut to the meat..
When you turn the key, you hear the beeping from the ignition, but none of the dash lights come on, and when I turn to start, nothing. After removing the clifford alarm (thought that was the problem since it seemed to have no power) was the same things. After testing the ignition wire for power and still not starting I was stumped.. Was about to put the dash back together, and viola, it started, dash lights came on the whole nine yards, like normal. When I plugged the Clifford back in, it worked again too..
Obviously something is going out, I just don't know where to begin troubleshooting it.. Any Ideas?
Thanks, Paul

Re: '95 Civic Starting Problem (No Dash Lights)
That was one of my thoughts, would that explain the lack of power to the alarm system, radio, and cig lighter as well?
Also, should i wait for it to happen again to do the continuity test, cause right now its starting, so it should measure okay right?
Thank you..

had a similar problem. Car wouldn't turn, much less start. Everything was dead. Turns out the battery cable was loose.
Had another situation that was almost similar. Dash lights, tail lights, radio and clock wouldn't work. Car would start but the aformentioned items wouldn't work. Turns out it was the fuse (BACKUP) under the hood that was bad.

Go ahead and do the switch tests now. If there's no problem found, then retest when the problem arises again.

White95SiHB, already checked the battery cable, and ground too, and all the fuses
RonJ@HT Thanks, I will hit that tomorrow, Im guess im looking for no resistance, and it should be tested with the battery disconected..

You can disconnect the battery, but it's not necessary as the tests are done on the switch-side connectors not the wire harness-side connectors.

I have the same exact problem that you have. I also have a clifford immobilizer.
I noticed that only when key is position 2 and the dashboard lights come on, then I can successfully start the car. The frustrating part is that this problem only occurs intermittently. More so recently. Sometime when it won't start, I just leave the key long enough and the dashboard would light up again.
I changed to ignition switch about 1.5 years back and seems to work for while (6 months).
How do you fix your problem? Could you please share?
Thanks.
