I have a CF hood made by BodyKits NW on my teg and I have always been a little afraid to drive at high speeds. So far I have driven around 120mph and the hood held up fine. I'm just curious how fast some of the ppl here on HT have driven with their cf hood (VIS, fiber image, NW, etc) without having any pins.

 

i've gotten to 135 without pins, i don't think they are necessary.

 

With the fiber image cf hood i have the fastest i ran was 80mph. it was scary coz its pretty light it weighs only 5lbs....

 

I have a VIS and gone 130ish with no pins no problem

cant always say that....my buddy had a cf hood on his civic...travel bout 70mph on the interstate and I guess the latch came off and his whole hood flew off, cracking his whole window and damage the roof top....he stop and picked up his left over cf hood.....crazy stuff....lucky there was no car behind him...

 

if CF hood flew off from hood and damage car, will company pay damage? i mean reason CF hood was flew off from car it means latch is weak or something..

i have a VIS Racing cf hood vader style and no race pins.

did 250 km/h on german autobahn several times cos i live in germany

the hood flickers a bit, more than stock, but it holds down.... so no problem for you us guys i would say.

Local road course a guy I know hits about 110-115 on the straightaway in his stock LS. You telling me that a modified gsr with a little less weight on it won't hit in the 120s(A little less weight meaning a carbon fiber hood)? And you think his hood should pop open on him for riding a closed road circuit that is 3 miles long with one really good straightaway? I think it's not nice to wish bad things on any person.

 

I tagged a buck fourty on the 10 free way &lt;-- just cause you think you should tell people how to drive. But yeah anyways, i cant even believe this is a ****** thread puph! I mean WTF I dont have a CF hood but you can bet if i did and looked at how it was rigged up and felt for even one second it might not be right (with out) hood pins, your gonna find me puting them on 2 seconds later. This is a retarded question. If there recomended and the basic way it mounts isint enough or leaves doubt then your an igit if you dont use them and are just asking for trouble 45MPH or 150MPH

 

I bought the carbon creations hood & it seemed to jump around a lot when I went on the highway, so I took some electrical tape and wrapped the latch on the hood to make it thicker. When it closes its a little more secure.. and yea, you don't need to be going 130mph..

130.....cause my cf hood is not like a flimsy pos hood. My cf hood has a fiberglass frame, and where the hood latch is, its reinforced and seems pretty heavy duty. I've seen other hood with crappy hood latches and i would definately not go fast with those hoods.

basically what im tryin to say is.. theres no damn reason to go over 90, maybe even 80, on any local road/street. no where in the US is the mph that high.. unless you go to a drag strip.

and its dumb asses like you guys that do that kill people on the street like my friend by thinking to go faster then you should.

so i guess in some ways, i do wish it upon some people, cuz they are not considerate to others on the road and then hit them, kill them, then in court crying.. saying, im so sorry.. boo hoo hoo

i been over 120mph a ton of times with no problems/lifting etc. i have an old VIS hood.

It will happen and it might not happen. I have a friend that drove 100+ with his vis hood and no problems. Then out of the blue, he was cruising at 70mph on the freeway and it blew up on him.
