Default timing question

going to finally time my car, everything i read says i need to jump the service connector. c-speed racing says its under the dash, but is it on the drivers side fender (the little yellow plug that is capped off?). this is a b16a obd1 88 crx hf.

It lets the ECU know that the base ignition timing is being set
so that when you rotate the distributor with the engine running
to advance or retard,The ECU does not attempt to alter it ..

HWOA i never heard of this...i mean i know the dizzy part how you advance or retard but what i just picked up by your post was that if i just do it to the dizzy without messing with that yellow piece then the ecu corrects it anyway?? so i wont retard or advance at all? I want to advance it a little bit to kick off a litttle better top end i have a 91 crx si so what all do i need to do to advance the timing beside the moving of the distributor???? and i shouldnt go to far right?

If you are just playing with the timing,You don't have to jumper it..

If you are setting the base ignition timing to factory specs,
I.E.>Using a timing light, that is when you jumper it..
