Default Budget Subwoofer Questions

I'm looking to replace my 12" sub wich just recently suffered a puncture wound. Money's tight. I was wondering what you guys would reccomend. I was thinking either Audiobahn 1251T 400 watts or Cerwin Vega Vmx-12DVC 300 watts. Will the 100 watts deifference between the two really make a huge difference? I'm leaning towards the cerwin, but any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I forget the brand of the amp, it was a gift. I think its a profile. I know its RMS 300 Watts at 4 ohms and 420 watts at 2 ohms. I'm looking to spend about 100 - 150.

couldnt agree more. audiobahn is junk. My opinion, JL audio is the best bang for your buck. You could get a 12W3V2 in the price range. Its a great sub for the price. It would make any audiobahn sub sound like ***. Not that thats hard to do

Needless to say, JL's are very good subs. But if you are looking for something affordable kicker's would probably fit your budget. It's a bit cheaper than JL's and sounds just as good, if not better. I picked up 2 12's kicker comp vr's for 150 brand new and they are also the DVC's, im pretty much satisfy with them, but decided to upgrade to the solobarics. People that are selling JL's just ask too much for them. They are over priced IMO.

hmm

I'm going to support any of the kicker/eD/JL recommendations.

http://www.acoustic-visions.co...shiva/ At $125 shipped, this is one of the better options.

Also available at around the same price, something which is prob. sightly better: http://www.tcsounds.com/TC2plus.htm (Call them directly and ask...I'm not sure on the pricing)

Don't get either of these 2 subs unless you're sure your enclosure will work fine for them.

Some other subs that may work for you:

Phoenix Gold Ti
Image Dynamics V.3 (Not ID MAX or IDQ, the regular one)

I've made these recommendations specifically because you seem concerned with output, and because you seem to have a simple setup. That said, the kickers will work just fine!

It also must be noted that I'm probably missing a bunch of subs that may suit your needs better.

Don't concern yourself with "watts" -- My personal sub handles about 300w RMS, but it will out-pound almost any other sub using up to 600w... (excepting some proAudio drivers).

Also note that if your amp can only put out 300w, it won't matter if a sub can handle more...
