Default B16B main and rods

Hi there,

Does the B16B share the same rod and main bearings as the B18C-R or B16A?

I ordered some ACL main and rod bearings, but I might have gotten the incorrect ones.

Thanks!

The main bearings are the same. The rod bearings are the same as the B16A... the rod bearings found in the B18C1 (GSR) or B18C5 (ITR) are narrower and do not fit the B16B rod properly.

The B16B uses P72 rods? This engine is a bit confusing and I can’t seem to find much information on it. I know it shares the same block as the B18C and bore, but the internals are different.

Nope... I believe the stock B16B connecting rods are stamped "PCT". You have an OE Honda parts "Stroker" 1.8L engine there... using a GSR crank and rods. In YOUR case, you will need a set of P72 (GSR) rod bearings.

So they basically tried to turn this thing into an ITR engine? Is there a way to find out if it’s a gsr crank or ITR crank? Kinda strange how they would be revving stock gsr rods to 9k+ rpm. I wouldn’t think they’d hold up for so long.
