nice bays. but why do most of you guys take out the A/C and ABS and the POWER STEERING
People remove that stuff usually because:
A. A lot of these cars didn't come with power steering, but if they did getting rid of it can clean up the bay.
B. Most of these older Hondas' A/C systems don't work anyways, so instead of trying to troubleshoot that and have the lines and other A/C related **** clogging the bay people choose to get rid of it.
C. Not a lot of these Hondas came with ABS, especially if they were Civics. ABS lines aren't pretty either, and crowd the bay.
If you're going through the trouble to relocate brake hard lines, fuel filter, weld up/smooth out all the extra bolt holes, etc. then why would you WANT all the accessories cluttering up the bay?
Having said all that my car has A/C, P/S, and even cruise. The A/C lines are not as well hidden as I'd like, but I don't care enough to get new lines made. My P/S set-up is not a conventional belt-driven Honda pump, but a hydraulic-electric motor driven pump from the second gen Toyoya MR-2, and it's even on a toggle switch to turn it on/off as desired. Cruise is tucked under the windshield cowling. My car never has ABS, so...
doing a GSR swap into my EG and I want to do a mild wire tuck (ground cables, batt. relocate, and harness from both sides of bay) to start off with.
I have pulled the old D series motor and now starting prep to paint the bay next.
my ? is... should/can I tuck now while the engine bay is open and before paint? Or would it be better to do all tucking after the "new" engine is in and running.
I'll be painting the bay myself but having a shop to the GSR install. I'm unsure if a tucked bay will be problematic for the shop swapping in a non native engine (albeit just a D to B series swap)
just thinking about trouble shooting issues, ie: not knowing if its the swap or tuck causing whatever problems that might pop up.

Because race car man. Maybe I'm just getting old but I specifically bought my 99 ek hatch because it had working p/s and a/c. I think it would be cool if somebody would figure out a way to do tucked a/c lines with a/n fittings and ****. Instead of just ripping **** out.

I've got all the comfort features and a shaved/tucked bay. The only thing I could do long term would be to better tuck the A/C lines, like under the frame rail. The A/C has been charged for about three years now though, so I'm not in a rush to mess with it since it blows ice cold.
Wow these bays definetly have their A game showing. Awesome work! Definetly takes time to pull off but the end result is perfect :D
I have an odd or stupid question depending on which way you look at it, doesn't hurt to ask as I couldn't really find much info about it / people actually doing it so this question might help others out too.
Q: Could you use an oil / transmission cooler as a radiator?

I have a del sol and instead of going down the prefabbed tucked radiator route eg. like rywire's one I was thinking of just using one or two 30 row coolers with fans on them, would it provide sufficient cooling on a stock B16?
As for filling I would be getting the K-Tuned Upper Coolant Housing W/ Filler in a -12AN fitting. The coolers have welded -10AN fittings so which means i'll also grab the reducer fittings so everything hooks up.
As for draining just mounting the coolers with the fittings facing towards the ground shoud do the trick just unscrew one fitting and BLAM! coolant gushing out
If such a setup like this is possible you can get VERY creative on where you mount the coolers. Depending on the hose length an electric pump might also be required, rads underneath the car cough cough
So yeah just wanted to see other peoples opinions on this odd idea. Thanks!
So I’ve decided to clean up my engine bay some and mess around with a wire tuck. Can someone please point me in the right direction as far as reliable sites to buy harness heat shrink from please.
Who offers firewall plugs for EG's that acutally fit? I ordered the fuel tuck'd "kit" for $90 and the only one that was usable was the AC evap plug. Preferably not downstar, as Im not a huge fan of logos.
