Default Some pics of me and my friend painting his engine bay without removing the engine

Hey guys yesterday me and my friend(yusoslo) decided to paint his engine bay. We did it by covering up pretty much everything we could that we didn't want to get painted and then painting over everything else in the engine bay. Here are some pics...

notice the ugly faded red

Time to start with the primer...

then we started adding some nice metallic gray paint

Notice how well it matches the car's actual outside color

The finished Product

There are a few little spots that still show some red towards the firewall, but those will be covered up with a brush soon.

Good work, but it's really hard to see the actual color. It looks black from the pics.

yea guys sorry for the awful pics. I took those pics using a digital video camera and then cutting the frames out so the quality is awful. The paint shines really nice in the sun and is almost an exact match to the outside color of the car..which is the grey color of the rx8. Also the intercooler is there because he screwed up the bearings on his turbo and is currently in the process of getting it rebuilt. So that intercooler will be put back to good use pretty soon

i can't right now because its not at my house . Wait a couple days until I can get my hands on a nice digital camera and take some good pics. Or better yet we should have the turbo back on there soon.

If you had told me you were going to do that, I would have said you're crazy.

But it looks like it turned out pretty well. Nice job!

Cover anything you don't want painted.

Looks like you guys could have covered the rear of the car better...overspray is a biatch. Looks pretty good though.

Is that chicken in the tinfoil...i'm hungry.

yea guys basically you gotta cover up everything. We weren't worried about the rear of the car because there wasn't any way the paint was gonna make it back there. We spent a good while prepping the car by covering everything. My friend is extremely **** about this kind of stuff so he made sure to do a good job. The tin foil works really well!
