Default Turbo coolant fitting and angle question

I've got a gsr with an ac ramhorn and a gt series turbo. I know Garrett says the chra should be tilted 20 degrees with the return fitting being the upper side, see pic. The clearance of my oil feed line is such that the chra can only be tilted 20 degrees with the oil feed towards the block. With my chra being in the position it is, I can only face the banjo fittings downward. The coolant feed will be coming from the water pipe on the back of the block and the return will be going to the bottom of the radiator. In other words, the point of coolant feed will be higher than the point of coolant return but my chra itself will still be at the correct angle. Would that and the downward facing banjo fitting negatively affect the coolant siphon effect?

Also, what is an acceptable micron filter size for my oil feed?

About 40 micon on the feed filter.

I think it would be beneficial if you could post a picture of your turbo setup and the way your lines are looking. I somewhat get what you're describing but it would be nice for us to see.

Ok, I'll take a pic this evening.

What you're posting is what Garrett considers in their eyes, the optimized angle of attaching lines.. In actuality, having the CHRA as vertical as possible is more important than for use with the water lines. So, if both point down, you're completely fine. As long as the coolant is coming from two different sources that allow coolant to flow continuously, and consistently as it was stock, then you're more than good. Don't worry about that angle, so much. Remember, this is a water jacket, meaning that it uses coolant as a "moat" and surrounds the sensitive parts of the bearing cage.

30-40 microns is acceptable for an inline oil filter to use with the turbocharger for the various viscosity levels that are used in retro-fit turbocharged applications.

Great, thank you. I usually overthink things like this, I just want it to function as if it were oem, as much as possible anyway.

Better to overthink than to jump the gun blindly, which unfortunately a lot of people do. Wanting things like this to function as close to OEM as possible is generally a good way to think about things.

Good luck! Sounds like you're covering your basis, should yield good results.

I hope so. That's what earning a living at a dealership and taking pride in my work has gotten me. My build philosophy is research and understanding before execution.

I'd keep it clocked exactly the way you have it.
