not a d series guru, but as stated quite a few times already in this thread I think you need to ditch the d15 and go with a D16, preferably a Z6. Build it properly with forged pistons and rods.

See I originally wanted a z6 but no one had any for sale near where I live and a guy who's got a shop close to my house had this little d15b with a decent turbo kit for a really good deal so I went with it

I played around on that compression test website and looked at some Pistons and rods and I think I've come to a conclusion.

Eagle h beams with vitara Pistons seems to be my best bet. I'd like to get some wiseco Pistons but I don't have a deep enough wallet and I've seen some good eagle/vitara builds online. That combination with a d17 head gasket should give me a static compression ratio of about 8.47:1 and an effective compression ratio of 15.38:1 with 12 psi of boost.

Any thoughts? Any other options I have without breaking the bank?

I say go for it, the setups seems to be popular and it's a light and small car with a small motor; shouldn't really be expecting much low end torque anyways, so if you lose out on a little so you can fit within your budget now then I presume that it's not that big of a deal. Sure, higher compression probably makes a good difference but then again, so do K20 swaps (not a fair comparison, I know)

Turbo and "not breaking the bank" for a D-series really don't belong in the same thought process. But, all you have to lose is a D15.

Yea if things don't work out with the d15 I could always use the head on my y7 block. If they do work out I'll put a z6 head on it and shoot for even more power than the d15. And I wanna do a k swap so bad but I can't afford it

The turbo kit came with the engine and I got it for a steal. It's a Godspeed t3/t4 which I've heard good things about

exactly, if I was strapped for cash I would just run it stock block, just keep it safe and dont go much over 200HP 9:1 compression ratio which is better then the vitara build and save up for something a little better

thats why u go bseries, LS full swap $2200 on HMO. I have had several civics that were d series never could afford to get a Bseries. eventually I started finding some pretty decent deals on bseries parts, ended up trading a GSR transmission for a GSR core block and wiseco pistons and eagle rods built that and never looked back. biggest advantage is larger displacement options, better transmission selections (than d series) and higher efficiency head is just bonus

Ah, you fell for that whole "GodSpeed" kit stuff? No wonder you're all giddy about your "deal". That "steal of a deal" is given to pretty much anyone with a pulse, unfortunately.

What are you expecting to spend on pistons? I see used eagle rods going for around $200-$250 shipped.

I looked up some reviews before I bought it cause I was skeptical. And a bunch of people were pretty happy with how it held up

take this as constructive criticism

LOL dont fool yourself, its chinese crap. sure people get lucky and it will "work" also plenty off horror stories out there as well. particularly on a used kit I would not take that chance (could easily be on the verge of destruction). Not willing to risk my motor with that junk. they do seem to last longer when you dont push them hard once you start getting into higher boost pressures they blow up...and thats just the turbo, manifolds crack, bov's + wg is just junk and fail all the time

Yea I took that all into consideration. I will be getting a quality wastegate and if I can get a cheap enough turbo I'll replace the one it came with

NOOOO. That's how you got in trouble with wastegate dying... it was due to that thinking. STOP BEING F*CKIN' CHEAP! If it means you wait to get the correct components because you have to save, then WAIT. Otherwise, you'll just be in this vicious cycle of replacing gates/turbos and manifolds for the next two years.

BOCO (Buy Once, Cry Once). Then the car might actually last.

How many times have you guys said dont do low compression? He is still talking about 8-8.5:1

How many times have you guys said dont use cheap **** and Godspeed sucks? He "...looked up some reviews before I bought it cause I was skeptical. And a bunch of people were pretty happy with how it held up" and has "taken it all into consideration".

I seriously dont understand why you people even ask for help. You ask, yet you keep going back to your own flawed logic, no matter how many times your'e told the truth from people "who actually KNOW" and not some random on the internet trying to make a buck. If you're so set on doing things your way, then just DO IT. If you are looking for validation on a super low compression D series with a Godspeed turbo setup you came to the wrong place. Now either take the advice and run or grow up and smell the cheap chinese **** you bought...

Pro-tip: That's not orange chicken your smelling...

Normally, I don't comment on stuff like this, however..........

The whole reason I'm going with this setup is cause it's cheap, and it's proven to hold up with a good tune. I appreciate all the info you guys have given me and if I wanted to drop thousands of dollars on high quality parts I would have got a b18c or a k20 instead of building a 1.5. The eagle/ vitara combo has been proven to hold up. eBay turbos are also proven to hold up if you don't boost too much and you get a good tune. If I blow it up then I blow it up. If I get a reliable 300hp daily then I made a good choice. Again thank you all for the valuable information.
