Not suppose to be "between", it needs to be right up to the "upper" mark.
As eghatch stated, it could be the linear solenoid. If this was rebuilt did they provide new sensors?

@ronJ: the issue is not about the car-does-not-move any more. I understand the shift cable issue. do you still mean it is related to the shift issue?
thx

Ron,
The threads were combined. Right now it shifts rough, or rough engagement, or shift points are too high (2500 - 3000 rpm).

@tony_2018: just checked TC and linear solenoid. the TC is new and I guess it is rebuilt ones and it should be ok. The linear solenoid and gasket look ok. the resistence is about 6.3 ohms, not too far away from 5 ohms, right? the valve clicks with movement for the solenoid.
do not know what to check next now.

@tony_2018: one thing I did notice today. I also open up the lockup solenoid. the click sound is not that strong. So I tried to apply battery voltage to wake it up. the click sound gets louder. Then I drove about 1 mile to the bank and I think the shift is ok. after I came out of the bank, the shift is the same as before. I disconnect the battery before i took apart the lockup solenoid.
any idea?
