Default Quick Caster Question???

How much caster will I gain from switching my controls arms? I was thinking of doing this but am not to sure. I am gonna be getting into autocross soon, but I still drag race my car. What are the benefits, and downfalls of more caster? Will i need an alignment again after I switch the control arms?

Thanks

caster is good, it increases dynamic camber, which increases cornering traction

no real downfalls except increased steering effort. OK for drags too.

does your car have adjustable radius rods?

yes, you should make sure hte alingment is straight (a little toe-in is OK)

I dont have radius rods.

I just got an alignment done the other day. Now I am thinking of doing this, but I dont really have money for another alignment.

Not necessarily since all you're doing is removing the top balljoint, but still, it couldn't hurt. On average, you'll see about 1.5 degree gain. Don't expect it to be equal left-to-right either.

Usually $50-80 for an alignment.

wow! that must be for 4 wheels eh?

here they use laser alignment machines and a computer to do it, takes about 30 minutes and can be done to your specs.

wonder why it is so much more expensive over there?!?

now i can see why you are reluctant to get one...

Hey, i herd that when the upper A arms in a DC2 (integra) are swapped, then it starts to dig into the engine bay and make a pretty big indentation. I saw a pic on this on one of the many threads somewhere and wasnt sure if this happens to lowered cars or ones with stock ride height. anyone expierienced this problem?
