Default question regarding weight distribution.

First let me give some quick facts about my car: It has a b18C1 transplant with the following mods: TypeR 4.785FD w/lsd tranny, i/h/e/c/cams with Cusco zero2 coilovers and running 195 wide S0-3 on all four.

The question: I am going to go get the car corner balanced, but not sure how I want to do the weight distribution. Since this is not a FR where you can get 50/50 without effecting the power you put to the ground, I want to know what would be a good ratio to get best handling while still have enough weight in the front to keep the tires from peeling out. Also what would be a good camber,toe adjustment for autox/street without effecting too much of tire wear? This is the first time I have to do this for a FWD. I did this for AWD and FR in the past numerous times.

In general the idea of corner balancing is to allow the car to transfer weight more evenly from what i know and doing this doesnt really change the front to back weight distribution by much...for track racing my best experiences is to start with an even ride height car and tweak from there(usually requiring little adjustment from this point)...the car feels much more predictable and stable while cornering from my experiences...dont worry about more weight in the front for auto x; what you need is some 205's and to oust those skinnys!

as far as we're concerned here, when you 'corner balance' a car, youre aiming for a 50/50 weight distribution between DIAGONAL sums, not front/back. this is so because you want to equalize the amount of weight transfer between left and right hand turns, which weight transfers mainly diagonally among the wheels in turns.

Actually, I have good results with moving the weight further to the front. I had the front about an inch or so lower than the rear, taking the advice from a race engineer, and it made a world of difference! We went out on the track, went to the pit, lowered the front, and went back out. It was awesome!

Even if I don't know my numerator from my denominator (see kg/mm spring post), I am calling engineering BS on this one. NFW.

You can jack weight onto and off of diagonals (depending on your spring rates and range of adjustability) but the ONLY way that you could shift any significant total vertical load onto or off of the front or rear, would be to have one end - literally - feet off of the ground. We would be talking about shifting the center of mass forward or back, based on the fore-aft displacement resulting from a changed rake angle.

The handling may have changed (roll center movement, resultant camber variation, etc) but it wasn't because the fore-aft balance changed.
