I race a 95 prelude with H22 in circle track /Enduro. I have raced 4 events and have 4 wins. The car is undefeated. I am currently using the block type LSD from eBay which is about 25.00. Seams to work OK but was wondering if a true LSD would be better. I can jack the car up on one side now and with the other wheel on the ground I can turn the lifted wheel easily. Thoughts

Unfortunately most of the off the shelf LSDs for our cars are designed for road courses. Considering how much time you spend going through banked high speed corners, I don't think the clutch pack LSDs will work as well for your application. A helical diff like the MFactory or WaveTrac helical diff might give you just enough slip limitation to keep wheelspin down at the exit of turns while keeping resistance down for the corners. Not sure if the expense is worth it unless you're getting a lot of wheelspin coming out of the corners.

I don't believe welding it would be good because we turn both left and right and it's not dirt. The track is shaped like a peanut for the Enduro races and a regular oval for sport compact races. I just thinking it' not getting power to both wheels now with that funky LSD block deal

I really doubt the block LSD insert is doing much of anything. They basically put pressure on the axle side gear and try make enough friction on a miniscule lubricated metal-metal surface. That won't account for much.

If it's within your budget Mfactory or Quaife helical LSDs will work well for your application. I've been running a Quaife for years without needing any maintenance (through 2 transmission rebuilds). If they exist for the transmission you are running, a stock viscous diff may work if your sessions are short. Once the fluid in those heats up they stop working.

The only thing the block is doing is putting more stress on the side gears, they will break.

MFactory helical LSD or Metal-Plate. The helical is available in an upgraded version for more torque bias, though it will still function as an open diff when a wheel is unloaded (your one wheel in the air test, all helical LSD's will do this). If you want it to function when a wheel is unloaded you will need the Metal-Plate LSD, which is adjustable.
