ATTS v. LSD
ATTS increases the speed of the outer wheel in a turn by up to 15%, to provide better handling characteristics in a turn.
LSD limits wheel slippage thereby increasing traction during both straight-line and turning situation (where loss of traction is due to excessive power application).
The two provide different and separate functions, and are NOT found at the same time in Preludes.

ATTS is also electronically controlled, monitoring individual wheel rpm and calculating possible wheel spin, and countering excessive yaw rates etc. Its just a form of active traction control. SCC mag reviewed it awhile back when they had that big article on the 2000 ITR, GSR, Celica GT-S, and Prelude. They reported ATTS was somewhat jerky. Ive also heard that the system robs hp, im not sure if thats true or not.
LSD is a simple mechnical part. Simply takes the place of your normal everyday open differential. There are a few kinds of Limited Slip DIfferentials. But all are built on the basis to provide power to both/all drive wheels.
I have the Quaife LSD on my GSR and I love it. I paid a fortune for it. But Im glad I did it. The differential was a very weak link in the GSR. Besides the hp difference, that is probably the single biggest reason why stock GSRs are slower than stock ITRs, drag or track.

So if I was to get a Prelude tranny for my Accord, should I get the one with the LSD (4G), or the ATTS (5G)? My car isn't a drag car per se... but I would like to maximize my all-around performance (launching and cornering).
Get the LSD- the ATTS adds lots of weight and it heats up and is disabled rather easily- It is awsome when it is working though- the LSD would be a more consistent choice in my opinion. The ATTS really shines when accelerating from a stop around a corner (turning at a stop sign) or when taking a turn aggressively in 2nd gear. You would have lots of wiring and other stuff to install with the ATTS if you could even get it to work right. It's not worth the hassle.
