Ya better lighting would be better...
So it looks like the Pirelli tires are going to make a good difference in the show this year!

That Red Bull is going to be pretty bad at Monaco as it will be destroyed around a tight circuit by the Ferrari. Oh well, it is only one race.

I would say so. But, who knows? From what I understand, a shorter wheelbase is better for tighter corners, and a longer one is better for larger radius corners. It looks like Mercedes wheelsbase is significantly shorter than most of the competitors. Who knows what Ross Brawn is up to. If Mercedes has the downforce and horsepower, the shorter wheelbase should give them an advantage in the chicanes (am I right?)

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is considering creating artificial rain during races to spice up the sport.
With overtaking becoming increasingly difficult in dry conditions, more and more people are looking to the weather gods to intervene with a bit of rain. In 2010, most of the on-track excitement was caused by some heavy downpours.
Ecclestone has taken note of this and believes he has come up with a cunning plan.
"Overtaking is almost impossible because in the dry there is only one line good for maximum speed because of the rubber on the track," he told the official Formula One website. "You have a completely different picture when it is wet. We always had the most exciting races in the wet so let's think of making rain...
He added: "There are race tracks that you can make artificially wet and it would be easy to have such systems at a number of tracks. Why not let it 'rain' in the middle of a race? For 20 minutes or the last ten laps? Maybe with a two-minute warning ahead of it. Suspense would be guaranteed and it would be the same for all."

I just can't see how that is a good idea. We all hate when stewards manipulate a race and that's all this would be.
When it rains in real life, everyone is looking at a weather map and they have a whole lot more than 2 minutes notice.

Well Pirelli will bring the same amount of dry & wet tires to the races anyway, regardless of the weather, so I don't think that's why. Being the new kid on the block, I'm sure they'll pretty much do anything Bernie says.

I don't think F1 can survive if they don't improve the show. I am a diehard fan and I still fall asleep sometimes when it gets processional and pole position wins the race. Rain always makes it interesting, but that is also because nobody knows exactly when and how much it is going to come down.
How about doing something like Reverse Qualifying? Where a driver wins points by winning qualifying, but the grid is in reverse order (slowest first). That could be pretty interesting. Either that, or he gets some kind of weight added when he wins qualifying.

Lewis is complaining a lot lately about the tires... I haven't really heard anybody else complaining as much!
