Muller - What the Hell?
I just watched a save that damned near defies physics.
If you saw BTCC race 2 from Thruxton, you know what I'm talking about.
How did he do that?
Unreal.

Missed it. But since I have little going on today, Thanks for the heads up. I now have SPEED on to catch any other interesting moments. Maybe the save will make the end of show highlights.

Muller has an amazing history of long distance tailout front tires smoking saves. All the while not giving up much distance to his competitors. I haven't seen a whole lot of BTCC in the past few years but when he used to drive for Audi yo uwould expect to see these amazing slides 2 or 3 times a race.

It's pretty easy to get the tail out when someone hits you entering the corner.
I still don't understand how he did that. And didn't even lose a position.

Thats called a love tap.
Can you imagine Marcus Ambrose in NASCAR next year. I mean V8 Supercars is hardcore fender banging and NASCAR is even more so.

I would have a lot more ***** on the track if I had a 6 speed sequntial box like those BTCC cars. Lose the tail, no big deal. Just bang the shifter 3 times and floor it.

Just watched the T2 SCCA runoffs race - the Subie WRX STI in the lead took a nice love tap from a Camaro toward the end entering Madness. He did a nice save and kept 1st - was pretty cool to watch too. Overall though alot of incidents and carnage in that race.

Scott,
Muller has incredible car control. It's what he is known for. He's won about a zillion ice racing championships in France and Europe.
He and Plato hate each other's guts. They were teammates back in 01 or 02 and Plato beat Muller for the title in the last race of the season. They spent that season knocking each other off the tracks in frequent fashion.
The same corner, "Church" where Muller power slid the car onto the grass (not the corner where he got bumped) is the fastest corner in BTCC. It's taken at about 140 + mph and the fast guys have the tail hanging out at incredible slip angles. Imagine your best tail slide at 140 +.
The best save was also at the same corner back in 2003 when Jason Plato got the car completely sideways through that corner and held it on the track and never even got into the grass.
Muller won the title in 03 but got beat in 02 by Plato and last year by Thomspon. Muller should have really won those two titles as well but he doesn't know how to dial it back and ends up getting involved in accidents that cost him points.
I think he's the world's best Touring car driver right now, even better than Prialux at BMW.

that was the best TC race i have watched in a while. yes there was alots of contact, but IMO from what i could see alot of it was just side to side rubben. There was a few 'punts' or whatnot, but great racing.
Yeah that was a sick race, great save.
What I can't get over is how hard they thrash their tires, and yet have plenty left. Especially after watching the G production race right before.
Those Dunlops are probably pretty bad-***.
