length of spring in coilover system ?

Default length of spring in coilover system ?

i was wondering other then weight is there any big differences in ride when comparing a 3 in spring to a 6in to a 7in spring?

do they ride better or handle better

You need to select springs for the car/appplication, ride height, suspension travel, etc...... But spring rate is spring rate, length doesnt matter.

To clarify Mr. J's point - spring rate and height can be controlled independently because rate is a function of the length of the WIRE (the number of turns in the coil) and the wire diameter: You can have a 500 lb/in spring that is 6" or 8" long. However, if you cut a spring shorter, its rate goes up.

Kirk (who wants everyone to remember that coil springs are actually well-packaged torsion bars)
